Think about the powerful people that you know. What makes them confident and strong\u2014admirable even? Some of it might be the way that they dress\u2014the right clothing, the polished shoes. Of course there are words\u2014and then there are power words. The power words are the ones that do the most work in the least amount of space, taking up the least amount of time. That\u2019s because the people reading your small business or non-profit emails or other marketing materials need the message\u2014fast and clear. They want words that reach them, that resonate with your message, that drive home the impact of what you\u2019re talking to them about, be it a product or service or a community effort. But what power words give you the most bang for the buck?<\/p>\n
First of all, your power words have to resonate with those small businesses and no profits. That may mean personalization\u2014what you\u2019re doing for clients, what you\u2019re helping them with, what emotions you are provoking. And of course, your power words have to get the attention of those clients, making them fear something or imparting on them a sense of urgency. Words lose their impact when they get too specific or make price the focus.<\/p>\n
